I’M BACK! But not here…

As you may have noticed, this blog has been dormant for over two years — as have I, at least on the film-writing front. If you were a fan of Garbo Laughs or my work, I have some very good news for you!

I am now blogging at Island of Lost Films, where I’ll be covering the classics and more.

You can also follow my new Twitter @isleoflostfilms.

Friends, kindly update your bookmarks! Garbo Laughs will remain as an archive, but will no longer be updated.

Thanks for following, and I hope to see you on the other side!

Plotting My Comeback

Planning on chucking out some content and giving the site a little facelift this week. You know I can’t resist October. Plus I’ll be expanding my focus — from classic film to classic, foreign, obscure, and whatever-the-hell-I-feel-like film. It just gives me more movies to write about and less excuses not to write about them! Stay tuned for the imminent return of Garbo Laughs.

Hiatus

Obviously.

It’s an Honor Just to Be Nominated

It’s cheesy and cliche, but oftentimes it’s true: it’s an honor just to be nominated. That’s how I feel about the recent announcement that this humble little blog is among the nominees for Best Classic Movie Blog in the 2012 LAMMY Awards, presented by the Large Association of Movie Blogs. Not only have I received a nomination in my very first year of eligibility (and in competition with 1,274 other eligible blogs, no less); I’m also in some truly stellar company. Fellow nominees in the Best Classic category are True Classics, The Hollywood Revue, Where Danger Lives, Defiant Success, and Cinema Sights — all incredibly talented veterans of the film blogging community. Color me shocked! Furthermore I am proud to be one of only 11 women-owned and operated blogs (out of 42 nominees total) to receive a LAMMY nomination. Maybe that’s a ratio we can work a little harder to even out next year, eh? ;)

To see a full list of the categories and nominees, go here. And fellow lambs, be sure to check back at the main LAMB site when final voting begins! (Don’t worry, I’ll likely badger you about it on Twitter anyway.)

Mutts Matched!

It was a lot of fun coming up with my little game of Match the Mutts a few weeks ago, but apparently it was not quite as fun to solve! The answers and accompanying photos are below, but first, an apology: I totally made a mistake in the quiz. Dog #6 was supposed to be matched with Ginger Rogers, when it is in fact Betty Grable’s dog, who wasn’t even one of the options. I only noticed this error just now as I was gathering the photos to give out the answers. Brain fart!

1 – D (Joan Crawford)
2 – H (Angela Lansbury)
3 – E (Bette Davis)
4 – C (Jane Russell)
5 – B (Debbie Reynolds)
6 – no one! (see above)
7 – G (Olivia de Havilland)
8 – F (Marilyn Monroe)
